About me and my therapy practice
I’m a Person-Centred counsellor and psychotherapist with extensive clinical experience which grounds my very human, compassionate and understanding approach.
I offer clients focus and time for short or longer-term work in a gentle empathetic way while you work through your own personal growth.
I have sat in your shoes, being a client initially was my first steps to sitting here today, so I do know how this early exploring feels. Uncertain, frightening and confusing, that’s alright, it’s a beginning.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of Professional ethics. What you share in therapy is treated with respect and confidentiality.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do or to give you advice, but to offer a safe, confidential and accepting space where you can explore what is happening for you, at your own pace.
I have more detail within the FAQ bit on my website which will give you a deeper understanding of who I am and how I work
Practice description
I offer long-and short-term therapy both face-to-face, telephone and online. The duration is negotiated and set by the client, the method depends on client’s preference and availability
Sometimes we just know that we don't want to continue feeling the way we have been feeling. We are tired, feeling tired. That’s alright
You don't have to arrive with everything worked out. We can begin wherever you are and the time you need is at your pace.
I am trained in Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Counselling, and therefore bring a highly humanistic, compassionate and relationship-based approach to my work.
I also have an interest in family systems and addiction issues, having worked with many people experiencing this within their life.
My first session
Initial Contact: You can contact me by email, the website contact form or give me a call. I will get back to you as soon as I can and definitely within 24 hours. We can then arrange an initial conversation or brief introductory session.
You don't need to leave a long message or write a long explanation if that feels too much. Simply getting in touch might be enough to begin with – that’s alright.
We can then have a brief introductory session, face to face, telephone or on-line at a reduced rate to allow you to get a feel for what our working together would be like. In my experience this helps to feel like a solid next step
It is important working with me feels right. That you feel understood and safe.
First full session: The first full session is then a deeper chance for us to begin to shape the therapeutic work.
I'll explain a little about how I work, the practicalities, how I will manage your information and create a safe space for you and me.
You can ask any questions you have. None are too silly, small or big. We can take our time and start wherever feels right for you. You set the pace and the pattern.
Ongoing sessions: Therapy is your choice, and you remain in control of how long you continue. This is your session time, dedicated to you and your work. The therapeutic relationship is something we create together.
